Green Power in Varde

The idea of the mobility was to introduce the 8th-grade students in Lykkesgaardskolen to sound and noise pollution, show the international students how we make school in Denmark, and introduce them to Varde Municipality. Make a big range of activities related directly to the project. 

We also followed up on 3 of the activities in the project: Renewables, Clean transport and a letter to the mayor.

Monday 28/3: Getting to know each other day

Participants: Host students and guests 

  • Group Building activities in “Gymnastiksalen” 

  • Walking Varde By

    • Historic tour v. Bo Jensen 

    • Shopping

    • Varde rundtur virtuel guide (Vardeloop.dk).

    • Sound measurements in town. 

  • Gathering at Torvet.

Tuesday 29/3: noise pollution and danish school

Participants: All students in 8. grade and all guests

  • Physics lesson  (Gunner)

    • What is noise?

    • What is noise pollution?

    • Waves and sound.

  • Measurements outside in the town

    • Do noise walls work?

    • Do we have noise pollution in Varde?

    • How much noise do different ways of transportation produce?

  • Language lessons

    • English 8B Gitte 

    • German 8A Allan 

    • Danish/Religion 8C Stine 

  • PE in the sports hall (Only host students, 8B, and guests)

    • Badminton/Volleyball (Lasse/Manuel)

  • Workshop to compare the results. The info will be uploaded in the etwinning platform in order to inform the students who don't travel. 

Wednesday 30/3: Getting green power

Participants: Host students and guests

  • How do you get changes - Green Power - in a democratic society? (Gunner) 

  • Writing to the mayor about noise pollution.

  • Making a video about noise pollution.

  • Making music about noise pollution (Pernille)

  • Making art about noise pollution.

  • Visit by the mayor. Talk about the importance of preventing noise pollution. 


Evening 

  • Eating and sleeping in shelters at NaturKulturVarde in Varde Søndre Plantage. Compare urban areas to rural areas. 

Thursday 31/3 Bus Trip to the west coast and the sea

Participants: Host students and guests

  • Blåvandshuk fyr/Blåvand fuglestation 

  • Tirpitz museum 

  • Measurements in nature. 

  • Workshop about sounds of nature. 

Friday 1/4: Renewable energy

Participants: Host students and guests 

  • Cycling to Karlsgårde sø og karlsgårdeværket

  • Seeing Karlsgårdeværket

  • Walking around Karlsgårde sø and eating break.

  • Last sound measurements around rural areas

  • Cycling home


Evening

  • Eating together at the school

  • Boardgames

  • Evaluation

Evaluation:

We reached the goal we had set up for mobility, and the students got a better understanding of how different schools can be and clear concepts about noise pollution, green power and renewables, and sound measurements.


The final activity in order to make the evaluation is a drawing contest by groups.
